Blue Jeans Ghost
by Matthew

For several years, my family and I have begun to realize that our house, which we've lived in for nearly 12 years, is in fact quite haunted. We live in a neighborhood a little bit outside Austin, Texas, and our house doesn't appear to be out of the ordinary in any way. It is located in the older section of the community, and although I do not know the date of construction, I can determine that it was most likely built sometime in the 1970s or 1980s. To the best of our knowledge, nobody has died in the house. However, somebody still resides here alongside my family.

About two or three years ago, I tended to stay awake much later than the rest of my family, and I'd sit downstairs and watch TV. Every morning between 1 a.m. to 1:15 a.m. I would see a shadow move along the banister upstairs. It always occurred one time within those 15 minutes. More recently, I haven't stayed up so late. Even though I don't see the shadow any more, my dad has occasionally spoken of seeing something moving upstairs while he watches TV.

Last year, I was standing by the stairs watching TV, when out of the corner of my eye I saw a person sitting on the stairs. I turned, and they remained long enough for me to notice that there was no face, no hair, and that it was wearing a red shirt and blue jeans. My mom also claims that she saw this person.

One day, my mom was talking to me in the study about my grades in school with the door closed, when we heard a person run up the stairs. We both assumed that my brother had come home early, so my mom went into his room to talk to him, but he wasn't there. Nobody else was upstairs. We hurried up and went downstairs, but a few minutes later I was going back up to the study when my mom and I distinctly smelled perfume on the stairs.

Just a few weeks ago, my mom came upstairs to wake me up so that I could get ready for church, but when she opened the door she found my couch pushed up against my bed with the seat facing the bed. I will admit that I have been known to sleep-walk, but I only do on nights that I am really tired, and never two nights in a row. I had sleep-walked the night before. I also tend to remember bits and pieces of what I do in my walks, and I had no memory of doing anything that night. My dad said that he heard a lot of noise coming from my room before he went to bed.

Most recently, I was outside playing soccer in the backyard after dark, when I smelled cigarette smoke and saw a shadow on the fence. My first thought was that it was my own shadow, so I moved, but it just stayed in its spot. Next I considered that somebody was on the other side of the fence, but the boards are spaced so that you can just see through them, and there was nobody there. My neighbors are big smokers, so I figured that the smell was coming from their house, but as I got closer to the fence separating our backyards, the smell got weaker. It became more distinct closer to the shadow. I hurried up and went inside.

In the near future, we plan to set up motion cameras throughout the house in hopes of getting a picture of our ghost(s). I am hopeful that we will, but also afraid that something will actually show up. We plan on placing them in the most active areas in the house.
