Puzzling DOP Tricks

"I believe I had an experience with DOP (disappearing object phenomena)," writes Ronda S. "I got a cigar and was planning on smoking it. I was about to go outside when I remembered that I left my lighter upstairs. I put the cigar on a counter in the kitchen that our microwave sat upon, and ran up the steps. When I returned to get the cigar, it was gone. I looked all over the kitchen and the counter. About an hour or so later... I looked at the counter and - lo and behold - the cigar was sitting in the exact same spot where I had previously put it!"
