Mothman in Maryland

"When I was 18, I was walking home from my girlfriend's house at about 12:45 a.m.," writes Derik. "I decided to take a shortcut through a side street that was tightly lined with cedar trees. I got almost to the end of the street when I started to feel strange. About 20 feet in front of me and about 15 above the ground I saw this big black thing hovering in the air that was about 8 feet tall. I remember it having a body like a big pre-historic bird, but it looked completely black. It had ears or something that were like spikes that came straight up, kind of like the ones on Batman's suit.
