Reader Question: UFO, Time Slip High Strangeness?

"Please could you relate my experience... as time goes on I still don't know what to believe," writes Chris W. "In March, 1990 at around 2:30 a.m., I was driving home from visiting relatives with my daughter. Passing through Wimbledon, I spotted a well-illuminated, disc-shaped craft in the dark skies. I pulled up and got out to get a clearer view. At that precise moment, a lone police officer drew up in a patrol car. He got out and asked me, 'What are you looking at?' I pointed to the strange craft, but he took no notice, saying that he had complaints concerning late-night motorcycles racing around the commons. I then felt great fear; the police patrol car and his uniform were from at least thirty years in the past. Odd thing is, my daughter can recall very little abot the incident. I would love to know the answer. Was he a time traveler?"

Questions about such incidents of high-strangeness as this are virtually impossible to answer, since we have no hard evidence to look at: no photos, video, or even the police officer to speak with. This kind of weirdness has been reported in relation to some UFO sightings, and it defies explanation and logic. I've had an experience of high strangeness myself and, like you, it lingers in the mind, begging for rationale. But there is none in these cases. It's somewhat reminiscent of the odd occurrences surrounding the Mothman sightings in Point Pleasant, West Virginia and the more recent events at Skinwalker ranch in Utah. In these cases, all we have are the bizarre testimonies of the people involved, who can only struggle in frustration with the memory of trickster events that seem to purposefully play with the mind. So what happened? A time slip? A screen memory caused by the UFO? A psychological phenomenon? Who knows? Or, to paraphrase a line from the film The Mothman Prophecies, perhaps we're not meant to know.
