Regarding “6 Strange Things,” the incident with the phone: as I recall this is actually something that has happened to me before, also to others I know of. I don’t know if it still could, as changes have been made in telephones and the way calls are made. But when I was a kid occasionally the phone would get left off the hook. After a while, the phone would produce a “busy signal” tone then silence. However, the operator could break into the line and make the phone ring, most often if someone had been trying to get through without success. The operators could also “break in on” a phone call (generally only for an emergency but anyone can say they’re having an emergency), back before call waiting. I can’t explain why the phone would stop ringing as soon as you touched it but perhaps this is just the way you remember it but not how it actually happened.
