Have you seen Santa Claus?

Saturday December 13, 2008
"I'm 30 now, but last Christmas my sister brought up something that happened when I was younger, something that I blocked out all these years," writes Rex. "All of a sudden, it came back to me. This happened in a small town, 60-minutes outside of Winnipeg, Canada. I don't remember how old I was. My family was spending Christmas at my Grandmother's. It was Christmas Eve. My sister, cousins and I were sleeping in the bedroom upstairs. Sister and younger cousin in the one bed, the other cousin and I were in the other bed, as we were the same age. The stair light was kept on for the night. As the night went on, we were talking while the others were sleeping. Suddenly we had this strange feeling come over us. We looked up, and at the entrance standing there staring at us was this big man in the shadows, with light shining on him, just barely. He was all dressed up in red and white, white beard -- yes! SANTA CLAUS! I don't know if we were scared or just startled, but I remember us pulling the blankets over our heads. That's all I remember. I don't know if anything else happened.

"On Christmas Day, we came downstairs and told everyone that we saw Santa Claus. Of course, no one believed us. I know it wasn't a dream, as I'm not the only one who witnessed this. I guarantee it wasn't a member of my family dressing up as the big man. If you knew my family, you would know that they don't play dress-up for anyone.

"I'm not in any way saying it was the Santa Claus... but maybe it was? Then maybe it was a spirit, ghost, angel... or something more sinister? I don't know. I just know what I saw. No one may believe me. That's why I haven't told anyone this until now, right here. But with God as my witness, this is the truth. Now, I wonder more than ever what I saw that night. Will I ever know the truth or will this remain a mystery?"

I've heard from others who would swear they actually saw Santa when they were children. How about you? Have you really seen Santa Claus? If so, send me your story so we can share it with everyone. -- S.W.

I had an experience when I was three years old. I was still young enough to wear the footed pajamas. The year was maybe 1969 Christmas Eve. I wanted to see what Santa had brought me so I quietly walk down the hallway and I looked around the corner to our living room and I saw my parents and someone I didn’t know around our Christmas tree. The stranger was a old guy with a white beard and hair with a red suit. I quickly went back to my room as fast as I could with footed pajamas and slid into bed. I told my mom what happened many years later and she insisted that I was dreaming or that it was my dad. That wasn’t possible because my dad was sitting in a chair behind the stranger and my mom was standing right next to my dad! I’m african american and during that time the tenants in our building was african american so Santa stood out!LOL!

A few years ago I worked at the airport parking lot in a booth collecting parking fees. Christmas Eve a car pulled up to the window, the passenger was a very happy, chubby, white bearded guy wearing red pants with red suspenders and a white turtleneck covered in red and green Christmas characters. Sure looked like Santa to me. The rest of the evening I told all my customers that Santa had just flown in.

one summer i was at mervyn’s shopping and who do you think was walking right toward me?
a man who was the spitting image of Santa.
he was dressed in shorts and a hawaiian shirt.
we stood face to face and i said to him
“Santa what are you doing here?, and he
replied santa has to shop too, with a big
grin on his face.” so i’m not sure it was Santa, but hey who’s to say it wasn’t?

One Christmas Eve about 35 yrs ago while I was in my teens I was in a car with my parents driving returning home very late at night. We were talking the whole way about Santa Claus and how great it would be if he really did exist. As we pulled in the driveway of our house there he was, tiptoeing in the snow in between two houses across the street. We all laughed when we saw this and remembered the incident for many Christmases thereafter.

P.S. No robberies were reported.

I’m not sure he is really true. But how can I not wonder when this expieriance is always in the back of my mind. Well it has been for a few days. Like you I don’t know why I had blocked this memory. I’am 13, now but I saw something when I was seven.
It was dark, night time around midnight I would say. I was in bed, but I wasen’t asleep (who could be). When all of a sudden I saw this red light beaming DOWN into my window. It was so bright, and somehow I knew it was him. I looked up in the sky, but all I could see what the bright light, coming from a small object. Now I didn’t hear a helicopter, or anything. Except the unique sound of bells, and of course the sound of hooves tapping on the roof. This sound stayed for a while a few seconds after the light had dissapeared then it was gone. I don’t think I’ll ever forget it well again anyway. But the weird thing is I somehow can’t really bring myself to truely believe again. Until I have another rare occurence, like the one I had when I was younger.

Wow, i was looking all around for other santa clause sighting experiences. I was about 7 and I was looking outside my 2nd story window, just waiting to see him. I saw something approaching in the distance, it was a huge sleigh and it was flying right over my house, i dont remember seeing any reindeer, but i did see a man dressed in red with a beard. i was so startled but i kept looking even sticking my head and half my body outside of the window!! I told my family, but i knew they really didn’t believe me. I swear on my life to this day I saw something, i don’t know if it was really santa clause, but i did see what i described! I’d take a lie detector test in a heartbeat! This happened over my house in San Antonio,Tx

I had an old friend come and see me a couple of weeks ago. We lost touch years ago but he managed to trace me and he brought me a xmas card. After a few minutes i asked him if he remembered the xmas eve about thirty years ago when we were outside our houses, we grew up next to each other, it must have been around 7.30pm, a clear night when we suddenly heard a bell or bells in the distance getting closer real fast…as we both looked up there was the riendeer, the sliegh and santa flying very fast and low over my house. It was brief but we both ran to tell our famalies. Of course everyone laughed, but i tell you it was real! So when my friend turned up i asked him if he remebered, he said of course he did…but he didnt like telling people about it now! You can imagine why!
I turned to my wife and said SEE! I told you i wasnt lying!..ive told her many times but she looks at me like im nuts. I tell everyone but i always get this same reaction. So this is a message from Jimmy and Smitty in Scotland, Santa is REAL!
Im almost 40 now but I know what i saw.

(13) K. Stuart says:

I heard this story from my husband years ago. He was small, probably around six. His family was spending Xmas at the old family homestead. He was in bed when he heard a noise outside and ran to the window to see what it was; what should he see, but a fat, white bearded man walking through the swirling snow towards the house. He crept downstairs to get a good look at Santa. How disappointed he was when he discovered it was only his grandfather in his red “union suit” on his way back from the outhouse.
