Stacy G.’s Ghost of the Desert was a great story. Perfect and so realistic. I was glued to the story and reread it to make sure I didn’t miss anything. The only thing that was a bit difficult for me to understand was the drive out over open desert to get to the country road in the dark of night (she said to get out there during the day she was going 1-2 mph because of the ruts, bolders and arruyo(?)). I would think it would have been easy to been disorientated and get totally lost at night. I bet it’s easy to get lost even in the day out in the open desert like that -not a good idea. But anyway great story for a change. The story was much better than the monthly stories. Stacy’s story I believe could have happened. I have a friend who went off an wilderness road to park for a while and listen. He shut off his car lights and was in pitch darkness. He said he heard shreiks and other strange sounds and quickly got into his car and drove away. He feared wild animals, but many of the sounds were even stranger than he expected. Says a lot.
I am posting this here since no place to post under the story above…

“The spot was very remote and very beautiful. We hadn’t seen any animals or people the last 15 miles of our journey. The last two miles of our trip was overland – kind of tricky, since there were ruts and huge rocks on the ground. During those last few miles, I could only drive 1-2 mph. We had to constantly watch for the errant boulder or swerve to miss yet another arroyo. The terrain was typical desert New Mexico with some short, scattered trees, but mainly rocks and scrub brush. ”
After hearing all sorts of strange noises imagine driving back the two miles overland to get to the desert country road in the pitch darkness of night.
