Ark will not be revealed

Saturday June 27, 2009
A news story hit the media on Thursday in which Abune Pauolos, Patriarch of the Ethiopian Orthodox Church, is quoted as saying that the time had some for the Ark of the Covenant to be revealed to the world. Allegedly, the legendary Ark has been locked away in his church for hundreds of years. He was going to unveil the Ark on Friday, June 26. Guess what. It didn't happen. "No, the ark is not going to be revealed," Abune Paulos said. "Nobody could touch it. If you do so, God will smite you." He blamed the false news on the adnkronos.com website.

Doesn't it remind you of the countless false earth-shaking announcements about the "truth" regarding Bigfoot or UFOs that just evaporate into nothing? Whether the Ethiopian church really does have what they believe to be the Ark is unknown; and even if they have something, can it be proved to be genuine? In his book The Sign and the Seal, Graham Hancock suggests there might be something to their claims. But I guess we won't know for awhile. Which may be all for the best -- I'd hate to see someone get smited.
