"I would like to know if the [Your True Tales] stories are actual occurrences, not because I feel they are impossible, but because I have grown skeptical," says Machaela. "I noticed that you only place several stories every month. Why? Are these true stories emailed to you by real people? I emailed a few of my stories, but they did not get published. Why?"

Answer: Yes, ALL of the stories in Your True Tales are sent to me by real people. Whether the stories themselves are really true or not I cannot possibly verify....

Read the rest of my response to Machaela, plus get some tips on getting your story published.

Machaela: I’ve submitted several stories to this site, but very few have been published. All my stories are true- I’ve had so many odd occurrences in my life that I could literally write a book. As for dates of the occurrences- I do a ‘best guess’ estimate. Because I spent 20 years in the Air Force, I’ve lived in several places. So depending on the story, I can usually whittle the time down to a few years based on where I was living in at the time. As for remembering the month, I’ll base that on what I was doing or even what I might have been wearing (sweater, shorts, outside walking in the sun, indoor with a fire in the fireplace). Speaking of true ghost stories, another great site is: http://www.theshadowlands.net. There are literally thousands of ‘reader submitted’ stories to read and you can post your stories there, also. Good luck and I hope to read one of your stories in an upcoming ‘True Tales’. Oh, and one other thing, my (author) name on my stories is STACY G.- no ‘B’ here…

Yup, my story was published and yes, it is true. Wish my dad was alive because he would corroborate it with me. The story was, “The Demlar House.”

Dear Machaela,
Yes indeed I am a real person, and that event, titled, “The Dancing Demon”, DID infact happen. I remember it so well because it was, how should I say; out-of-the-blue? I didn’t put my full last name to protect my privacy, like many others have chosen to do; however, I’ve seen names given like “deimons” and such, and I can see why you thought they could be written by fakes.

Stephen, i’ve seen quite a few stories here that were obvious fakes or rip-offs, many of them appeared to be high school creative writing attempts. So maybe you’re not being picky enough! But so many of the stories ring true, it really makes you think…

My story was published, and I assure you it was true. I recalled when it happened so well because I sent it in less than a month after it happened. I have read so many stories on here, that leave me saying “yeah right” And I’m sure many people read my story, (in bed with a doppleganger) and said the same thing. I just take the stories I read here as entertainment first, and secondly I look for the ones that mesh up with my own experiances. I do wish how ever that each individual story could be left comments, as I for one would love to talk to anyone else who experianced the same thing I did. I still get chills thinking about what I put my arms around that night in bed.
