Excellent article. The 2012 Phenomena is a very good example of what is wrong with the internet. A few people who want to get their 15 minutes worth of fame start posting something and soon other follow right along without bothering to check the facts. That being said, I do feel something is going to happen in 2012 that will probably surprise all of us, some will be happy and others won’t like it one bit.
Just nice to see someone has a perspective on the hype that 2012 is bringing. I remember the same hype over 2000, not even the computers crashed! Easy for people to get swept along, especially with all the films that are and will be brought out in the next couple of years. At this rate the only thing 2012 will bring will be extremely anxious and depressed people!
It’s a bit different. There were no calendars which ended in 2000.
2012 has the Mayan calendar ending, the Hopi Indians predicted the end and the Chinese I Ching also came out with the exact same date. December 21, 2012. The web bot project came up with the same date as well. There are also several others which I can’t remember.
It’s not like it’s only the Mayan calendar – there are several other civilizations who came up with the exact same day and year, and came up with it thousands of years apart.
Something is going to happen on that date and anyone who says differently is pretty ignorant.
