Actress Peg Entwistle came to Hollywood in 1932 with hopes of stardom in motion pictures. But a lifetime of tragedy and disappointment weakened her battle against depression, and on a September night of that year, she climbed the 50-foot "H" of the famous Hollywood sign... and jumped to her death.
