Red-Eyed Robot
This incident happened when I was between 9 and 10 years old. To this day, I still don't have any explanation as to what this was. My parents and I were in the Dominican Republic and went hiking in Puerto Plata. We also traveled with my dad's war buddy and his kids. The adults were walking at a much faster pace than my friend Josephine and me, so we were a little behind them - I would have to guess about 30 feet behind. As we were walking, I noticed that to the left of us and about 10 feet ahead, was a small robot standing next to a tree. He was waving at us with his arm, which was at a 90-degree angle. I found it odd that this tourist attraction would be in the middle of nowhere. As we got a little closer, we heard the clicking sound every time it waved. It had big round red eyes! It never moved; it just kept waving. I found it very odd that the adults seemed to simply ignore it. (Today, I wonder if they even saw it.) As we were getting closer to the thing, I said to Josephine, "Look at that! Let's go touch it!" She being the chicken that she's always been said, "No!" She started to cry and ran away. I continued to walk, but I was so angry with her that I couldn't see straight. Anyway, as I passed the tree, I looked behind me and the robot was gone! - Joddy L.
Winged Creature in the Woods
A couple of friends and I were walking through woods like we do almost every weekend, and we went to a place were the school takes all their old equipment. We came across a dead animal lying next to a pond - it was mutilated. Its head was barely still attached to the body, and two legs were torn off. When one of my other friends and I went to look at it more closely, its eyes were gone and whatever cut the legs off, cut them off clean. We suspected it was a hunter leaving it behind or something, so we continued walking. A few minutes later, as we were walking, I saw something standing on a piece of cement about 10 feet to the right of me. When I turned to look to see what it was, it was gone. Directly after that, we heard a loud screeching sound behind me. I asked and nobody else heard it. When I looked behind me, about the length of a football field, away stood the scariest thing I ever saw. It was 8 to 10 feet tall and was completely black except for two large red eyes. It had big black angel-like wings. It pointed at us, said something that appeared to be in a different language and flew away. Since then, I have never even stepped foot in those woods again. - Bucky W.
Bug-Eyed River Monster
When I was 14 years old, my sister, who was 15 years old, and my sister's friend and I were walking home from the mall. We went over a bridge that leads to the Mystic River. While going by the river, we saw a strange creature (that to this day we cannot explain) crawl out of the water. It was about three to four feet long. It was black and looked like it was wearing a rubber suit. It was not human, but had arms and it reached out to us and made a strange noise. It had bulging bug eyes. After it made the noise and reached out to us, we screamed and ran. This creature was not human. I was curious and wanted to go back and see what it was, but my sister and her friend stopped me. We stopped by the police station to have them check it out since we had no idea what it was. But when we went back, there was no trace of anything.
