By , About.com Guide

Here is installment number five in our popular series of paranormal games. Your challenge is to guess which of the four stories presented here has been completely fabricated by your About.com Guide. You'll find that all of the tales are amazing, but only three of them are true. Which is the fictitious story? Read them all, then cast your vote for the phony story. See if you can spot a tall tale when you see it.

Story 1: The New Hampshire Dwarf

On December 15, 1956, a man from Derry, New Hampshire was out in the woods looking for a suitable Christmas tree to cut down and bring back to his home. What he encountered in the woods that day, however, made that holiday season he would never forget. Standing there in the woods was a creature the man could not identify. It was like no animal he had ever seen and was vaguely human-like. But it most certainly was not human.

Whatever it was stood about two feet tall and was completely green in color. The man described it has having wrinkled skin, like an elephant's. It had a high, domed head and ears that resembled a bloodhound's. The man was close enough to this creature to see that its eyes seemed to have a film over them, similar to what some snakes have. There was no nose on the being, just two small holes where one ought to be.

This strange dwarf had two arms and two legs, like a primate or humanoid, but they were unusually short. The hands at the ends of the arms were stump-like and the feet did not have any toes.

The man claimed to have watched this clothesless creature for about 20 minutes, by his reckoning. He then decided he would try to catch it. He started to approach the green dwarf, but it made such a horrifying screeching sound that the man ran away in fear of what it might do in its own defense.

A reasonable explanation for what the man saw in the woods that day has never been offered.
