Railroad
Crossing Incident
by Albert,
Armando and Dan
About 20 years ago, a couple of buddies and I went down south of San Antonio to the railroad tracks. [See the article, "The Haunted Railroad Crossing"] We were all about 18 years old at the time and it was about 2:00 a.m. We had just left a disco club and we didn't feel like calling it a night yet. We stopped the car and placed it in neutral and it rolled up and over the tracks. We did this several times with the engine off and on - and even backwards once. It rolled over each and every time.
Then we got bored and Albert, the driver, said let's do it just one more time and head for home. As the car was moving, we stuck our heads out the window and started yelling, "Come on, you guys, push harder! Can't you do better than that?" Just then, the car came to an abrupt stop dead center on the tracks. We even thought at the time that the car was rocking by itself; we're not sure anymore. We didn't think very much about it stopping like that. It felt like maybe we hit a rock or something. When Albert tried to start the car, we got nothing - no crank, no clicking, nothing. We just sat there trying to figure out what was wrong when we heard a train whistle in the far distance - it sounded like it was heading toward us, or so we thought.
We quickly jumped out and pushed the car off the tracks. We noticed there was nothing under the tires that would have stopped us. We pushed the car about half a block down the road away from the intersection and parked it under a bright street light. When we walked behind the car and saw the reflection of the street light we were all stunned. There was morning dew on the car and there were small hand prints all over the car. Just then we got the feeling that someone was standing behind us and was about to grab us from behind. Even though the car was a four-door vehicle, we all flew in the rear right door in record time. We were all on the rear seat on top of each other trying to lock the doors and raise the windows. Then we just sat there we didn't speak we just listen to each other breathing with fright. We sat there until the sun started to come up. Then we walked about two miles and took the morning bus home.
When Albert went back that after noon with his dad, the car started right up and it never failed him in that manner again. I still get goose bumps when I think or talk about that night, I will never forget the feelings that I experienced that night.
