Angels in
the Ball Field

This is a story my nephew, Sam told me about a school mate of his. The boy played on Sam's ball team. The boy was around 12 years old. This boy told Sam that he had been seeing angels for a couple of weeks. Everyone just kind of thought he was being weird. One night after a game, the boy was riding home with some friends. He was in the back of a truck with a camper shell on it. The game was in Ohio and they had to drive to Indiana and pull up and across a railroad track to get into the driveway. There were four people in the truck, two in the front and two in the back with the camper shell on it. The boy driving pulled out in front of a train because this was an unmarked railroad crossing. He didn't see the train coming so the train hit them full on. The two in the front lived, but the boys in the back of the truck were thrown out and killed.
My nephew always wonders about why the boy who was killed says he was seeing angels around him. Is it because he was going to die? It was really strange.
Another strange twist was that this boy's dad was a doctor and he was working at the hospital the night of the accident when they brought his son in. He had to make a decision by morning to leave or take his son off of life support. Being a doctor, he knew there wasn't any hope for his son, so he pulled him off of the support system. The doctor donated his son's organs and one of his lungs was given to the boy who was driving the truck he was killed in that night. Bizarre how the kid driving may not have lived if his passenger hadn't died. What a tragic night. Makes you wonder about angels!
