I was so amazed to see the article about shadow people! I have seen one twice, and thought I was probably imagining it, but now I'm saying to myself: gee, maybe I'm not nuts.
The first time I saw one was when I was working at the homeless shelter. I was one of the overnight staff members, and I used to sleep on the sofa in the child care room for three hours or so after all the residents went to bed. One night I had trouble sleeping. One of the residents had left the light on in her room, and because the childcare room was in a wing at the back of the building, her light was shining right in through the wall of windows.
I got up to see if I could see if she was moving around and walked over to the wall of windows. I had no lights on, and was totally in the dark myself. What I saw was a shadow person standing at the edge of the light by her window, looking in at her. I didn't think it was a ghost or a spook or anything like that at all. This person was just barely visible, but it was really there, and it seemed like it was wearing some kind of camouflage suit that just completely concealed it. The body seemed to have a smooth silhouette, as though the person was wearing a body suit.
My eyes had adjusted to the dark, so the person was visible to me. There were no glowing red eyes. I could clearly make out a head, and other than the fact that the head was slightly larger than normal, and the neck very slender, it seemed like the size of a young teenage boy or girl, and seemed on the short side. I didn't think it was a normal man or woman either, because the suit or whatever that the person was wearing was flickering a little at the edges, if you can imagine that. It was like a visual field had been set up around a real person.
The head was completely featureless and black, and all I could really see was the person suddenly lift up their head and stretch their neck up sort of like a dog sniffing the air, and then the person turned its head toward me, and I sensed that it was completely shocked to see me standing there looking at it. Next it did this weird thing. It kind of dove down to the ground, and seemed to almost flow into the darker shadows along the base of the building, heading my way but definitely in darker shadows so it could no longer be seen.
I just stood there, and I didn't know what it was or who it was, but I knew I had seen it, and I was angry and amazed at the same time. I was angry because the so and so was playing peeping Tom at a girls window, and I was amazed at the flat black quality of the person after they started to move into the deeper shadows. Yet, it had been SOOOOOOOO weird that I wasn't willing to tell anyone about it. I had a position of responsibility and I didn't want anyone to think I was nuts.
That was about seven years ago. I always wondered about what it could have been. I thought: Well, maybe the US is testing some kind of weird camouflage suit. The shelter where I worked was near a military facility. Then I even thought to myself, well, maybe there are just more kinds of critters on earth than we really know about. Our shelter was at the edge of the wild woods, and I thought about all those strange stories about Big Foot being some kind of shy ape man living in the woods, and I thought: Maybe other kinds of things live in the woods, too, and we just have never been able to see them.
I didn't think about it too much, though, and got on with my life, but then we moved here to our new house, and we are only one town over from where I used to work. Again, we are near a military facility, and we also live right at the very edge of the woods. When we first moved in, I was standing in the dark, looking out the window, admiring the way the moon was shining on the trees, when I suddenly saw a black man-like shape running through the woods down the hill at the side of my house. It had that same flat black quality I remember from before, and it was moving very quickly. I only saw it for two seconds and then it was gone into deeper shadows. If I could describe one impression I had, it was the smooth silhouette of the body. It did not have bulk like a person wearing clothes, but gave the quick impression of someone wearing a body suit.
