Voices in the Night
by Christina V.

This has really freaked me out! I'm not one to get freaked out very easy. Even my friends are worried because I'm freaking out. I just want to understand or maybe get a little insight so im not so scared now.

The most recent event happened last night. My three-year-old son has a chest cold. I got him to sleep, and when I was going to bed, I put him in bed. As I was just getting comfortable, he started coughing - you know, the kind where you are just trying to get up phlegm. I lay there waiting, giving him time; if it got worse, I was going to go get him. Suddenly, I hear this voice talking to him, saying, "Breathe, baby. Just relax, baby, just relax and breathe." I got scared and was about to wake up my husband, but I heard it again. When I woke up my husband, the bed made noise and the talking stopped. I went into his room and his brothers were sleeping and he was still coughing. I looked around the house and no one was here, but I was all goose bumpy and my hair was on end.

I went to tell my husband. I was rocking my son and my husband said, "Shhh." When we were quiet for a few minutes I asked him what. He said he thought he heard someone talking. All night, as I was just dozing off, I heard someone walking around. I went to see if one of my twins was awake and they were sound asleep. I even heard the sound of my door closing. But when I checked, it was still dead-bolted. Needless to say, I didn't sleep very well.

There are times when my baby is going to sleep and he will look and ask me, "Mom, who is that man?" He started that at about a year and a half. His dad was gone, so I figured he missed him and whatnot. But now that he speaks better, he'll just look at a wall or door or something and ask me, "Mom, who's that man?" I don't see anything, but I get scared. I don't know what to make of it.

Three days ago, I was in bed and my husband was watching TV. I fell asleep and suddenly I heard someone tell me, "Wake up! Wake up!" It was right in my ear - not yelling, but loud enough to wake me up, and no one was there. This wasn't the first time that has happened to me. All my life I've had that; it's not always "wake up," sometimes it's other things. It's not usually this close either. I always thought it was my imagination, but I got to thinking maybe it's not.
