Gray-Skinned Demon
by Don H.

This happened in 1974. I was 21 and my wife and I had separated. I was living by myself in the mobile home we had bought and moved beside my parents' house. The bedroom was at the very back with a hallway leading out, and the back door was right there at the bedroom door. It was about 1:00 a.m. and I had just laid down in bed and was almost asleep when I heard the back door knob jiggling. I knew I had locked it because I have a bad habit of checking the doors to make sure they are locked every time I go past them.

I closed my eyes just for a second and said to myself, I better get up and check it. As I raised my head and opened my eyes, the back door was wide open and some sort of being was looking in! All I could was from the waist up. It was dressed in black, had white-grayish skin, black eyes and pointed ears. I tried to scream, but nothing would come out. I was just frozen with fear. It just looked at me and kind of cocked its head sideways.

At that moment, I closed my eyes and finally let out a scream. When I opened them again, the door was closed. I got up and ran to it, grabbed the knob and it came open. It wasn't locked! I opened it and looked outside. I didn't see anything. I was sure I locked it this time. I went back to bed, scared to death. I didn't sleep all night thinking about if it could have been a dream.

But one thing keeps coming to mind. I had just moved the mobile home and hadn't had the chance to build steps to the back door, so if you were standing at the backdoor outside, you could only be seen from the waist up.
