Polter-rice
by Royland A.
This story isn't necessarily scary – I would say more along the lines of an "I'll be damned" type thing.
My wife and I went out to eat at a Chinese restaraunt in Sandy, Utah. Our meal had just been brought to us and were discussing different topics, when I noticed that one of the bowls of rice was slowly moving across the table. It inched its way for approximately 6-7 seconds and stopped. I looked at my wife and asked if she had seen that, to which she replied yes. We tried to find an explination (wet table or bowl, slanted table, etc.), but were unable to. The funny thing is, it made NO sound as it moved – almost as if it was not touching the table.
We asked the waitress if anyone had ever reported anything out of the ordinary, to which she replied that they had just opened a short while before, and was unaware. I did a bit of research and found that the restaraunt was located near an old military fort (also known as "indian outpost"). Perhaps this was a spirit of a soldier or Native American? I found it almost amusing, as did my wife (we called it the "polter-rice"). She used to live near Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, and has had many occurances of ghosts in her home... but that is another story.
