The Vanishing Girl

This happened about 1990 in Palm Springs, California on Vista Chino, two blocks west of Canyon Drive. I was taking care of my father at his home on a clear sunny afternoon. A beautiful slim young girl, apparently about 20 years old, was walking alone toward my father's house on the same side of the street. Her long, straight black hair completely covered her face. She looked like someone I used to know years before. I thought she might be coming to our house, so I was watching her intently. She was approaching us, about 50 feet away from me on the street (there is no sidewalk). I was looking directly at her when she just vanished! I've never seen anything like it before or since. I told my father to watch for her as I ran outside to see if maybe she was hiding behind something, but no. She was gone. Nobody else had even seen her.
