Noisy Haunting
by BJ M.

I was still living at home with parents when these took place:

  1. My uncle was sitting on our front porch, I was sitting at the dining table reading the paper, my Mom was out in the back yard. I heard the front door open and close, footsteps coming down the hall and thinking it was my uncle, I didn't look up. Then the hair stood up on my neck and arms as the footsteps went past me. I looked up and no one was there. The steps went on out the back, the door opened and closed. I ran to the door and asked mom who came out the door, she said it must have been one of the kids; she didn't see anyone. I went out front and asked my uncle who came in the front door. He said he didn't see anyone; it must have been one of the kids. I watched as the steps were going out the door, and I did not see any kids.
  2. My parents left for Sunday school and asked if I was coming on to church. I said yes and laid back down to sleep a few minutes. My brother's door across the hall slammed shut. By now I'm wide awake, so I asked him if he was going to church. He didn't answer, so I asked again, louder. He still didn't answer, so I knocked on the door. No answer! Now I was getting concerned, so I opened the door and peeked in. He was not in the room. I stepped back in my room puzzled, and the door slammed shut again. Needless to say, I got ready for church in record time.
  3. Our yard was full of kids as usual playing out until dark. It was just beginning to get dark. My youngest brother and I were playing tag. I ran across the yard and caught him, stepping into a sunken spot in the yard when cold chills covered both of us and a cloud of mist rose up through us and drifted away over the house.
