Edinburgh Castle Ghosts
by Patricia P.

I recently read your article about the "Ghosts of Edinburgh Castle." Just as I began to read the article, my electricity went out. Someone did not want me to read the article. I logged back on the computer when the lights came on and read your article. It was very interesting. I want to tell you my story of Edinburgh Castle.

I guess I should start by telling you that ever since I was a child I could hear and sense ghosts. I have three older sisters and they are the same way. My older sister and I are the most sensitive.

My sister and I went to Edinburgh in March of 2000. The tour of the castle was interesting to say the least. My first experience at the castle was just before I entered Mary Queen of Scots Bedroom. I could hear a man and woman arguing very loudly. As I entered the room it became very quite. In the bedroom there is a closet with a window where her son was born. As I walked into the closet I could sense a man standing by the window looking out over Edinburgh. Outside the new chapel there is what I believe to be a dungeon. My sister would not go near the entrance. I walked up to the doorway and I could hear many men screaming in pain. I could not go any further due to the heavy strong feeling inside. Just to the right of this area are some stairs. As you walk down the stairs, there is a hallway leading to what is now the lady's bathroom. I went in to use the restroom and there were several other ladies in there at the time. The ceiling looked like the inside of a Quonset hut, white and domed but under ground. In the corner of the room there was a ghost of a man. He was hovering in the corner off the ground. He had a white billowing shirt but I could not see his feet. He had bright red hair and a beard. He was laughing at all of the women using the bathroom. He would not stop laughing. I ignored him and used the restroom. I came out and washed my hands with him behind me and over my left shoulder. As I was leaving I turned and looked at him in the face and told him it was very rude of him to watch the ladies going to the bathroom. He looked at me and instantly stopped laughing. He acted as if he was shocked that I could hear and see him. I left and he followed me down the hall to the steps, but would not or could not come out of the building. It was a wonderful place but a strange experience.

I also want to tell you about another interesting experience. After returning from Scotland I discovered communion tokens. I don't know if you are familiar with them. They were issued by the protestant church in Scotland to members of the congregation. After the church member went to confession on Saturday they would use the token the next day at church to receive communion. They also worked well to keep the Catholics out of the church and from receiving communion. Well I am Catholic. I found them interesting and purchased three of them from ebay. I placed them in a glass frame in my dinning room. I was showing them to my mother one afternoon shortly after receiving them and the frame flew out of my hand across the room and hit the wall. The glass shattered. My mother just stood there with her mouth open in amazement. I picked up the tokens and placed them on the shelf in my china hutch. The next day I went to get them and they were gone. I looked everywhere thinking that I had placed them in a cup or on the cabinet with no luck. About three months later, two week ago, I found them in my china cabinet on the shelf where I had left them. I guess because I am Catholic someone is playing a game with me. Then tonight with the lights when I was reading your article. Interesting.
