He Saw Ghosts
by Jay

It started shortly after my ex-husband and I split up in 1999. Tim (my ex) rented a townhouse with my best friend and her husband. I worked nights at a casino and the kids would often stay there on the weekends. One normal weekend when the kids had gone to visit their dad, my then youngest, Scott, woke up running a fever and screaming (he had just turned two years old at the time). He was hollering for his dad to make "the frog" stop poking at him. He was saying that it was going to get him and wanted Tim to make it leave him alone. There was never an explanation for what had happened there that night. Shortly after that, Tim moved and the kids stopped seeing him as often. My best friend and her family stayed there. Around March of 2000, her only child (a boy who was then six) started seeing things in his room. He described what he was seeing as looking like "Flubber" and said that they flashed like Christmas lights. He also said that there were three of them, and one was kind of mean and big, the other was girlish like in her acts and would often poke at him and tickle him, and then there was a smaller one who also would want to "touch" him. This happened a few times and they had the house blessed, then strange things started happening (like lights flickering) and they moved within a month after that. They had the new apartment blessed and have not had any strange happenings since.

In the summer of 2000 I had one of my cousins watching my kids for me at my house. Another cousin of ours was here with her one day while I was at work. The one visiting fell asleep on the couch and the one sitting the kids stayed up reading a book. She saw what looked like my daughter standing on the stairs and said, "Katherine, go back to bed." The little girl didn't move for a moment and then when Rhiannon looked up, the little girl was gone. She woke up the other cousin and they went to check on the kids who were fast asleep.

Not long after that, Scott woke up running a 104 fever. He had just turned three that summer. I got him out of bed so he wouldn't wake his sister up, took him downstairs with me. I asked him if he was crying because he didn't feel good and he said, "No, mommy, there was a man trying to get in the window to throw paint on me and sissy." I wrote it off as a bad dream and tried to get him back to sleep. Then (half asleep) he asked who the strange man was carrying sissy down the stairs. I saw nothing and heard nothing and tried to reassure him that she was sleeping and there was no man there. I even took him to her room to show him she was still there. But he still insisted on what he saw. Then he woke me up later asking me to tell Katherine to stop jumping around upstairs and to go back to sleep. I listened but heard nothing and took him up once again to show him she was already asleep. I took him back downstairs and finally got him to go to sleep. His fever was dropping a little bit and staying down (I thought he was hallucinating or having bad dreams from the fever). I was exhausted and knew he was too.

Then, no sooner than I had gotten back to sleep he woke me up sitting straight up on the couch and pointed to the kitchen. I asked him what was wrong and he said, "Mommy, make that little boy leave me alone." I asked what little boy and he said, "Don't you see him mommy? That little boy standing in the kitchen. He's wanting me to come and play. Tell him I'm too sick and sleepy." That really freaked me out, so I said, ok, calm down. I turned to look in the kitchen and said, "I don't know who you are or what you want, but please leave us alone. Scott is very sick and he needs to sleep. Go away now." After my youngest was born in October, 2000, my boyfriend of five months moved in and blessed the house. I have not had anymore strange experiences with the house or with Scott. But thinking about it now and even telling that story now gives me the creeps and freaks me out.
