Inhuman Howls
by Jess

One night I was preparing to walk my dog. I leashed her up and we stepped out into the hallway. The moment we came out, ghastly, inhuman howls erupted from down the hall. I scoured the hall with my eyes - nothing was there. I quickly ran into the house and my dog, who, on normal circumstances would have fought and strained because she wanted to go, was more than willing to follow this one time. I waited for around a half hour until I was ready to face my fears and take her out. Everything was normal as if nothing had occurred.

A few months later, at around the same time, my dog and I were out in the hall, waiting for the elevator, when all of a sudden the row of lights running across the ceiling and down the hall flickered, darkened and lightened once again. I looked down at my dog; she was standing, her ears perked, her eyes aimed at nothing down the hall. "What do you see, honey?" I asked her. She normally would have wagged her tail, lifted her head, done something that would let me know she had heard me, but she paid no attention to me. Finally, the elevator door opened and I managed to drag her inside. As the elevator descended, the lights on the ceiling of it vibrated, which is something it rarely does.
