Michigan
UFO Encounter
by Lee
I grew up in Grayling, a small town in the northern part of Michigan's lower peninsula. This event occurred in the Summer of 1986, when I was nine years old. My mother, two sisters and I were in the car, returning home from town. We were about a mile and a half from from, turning onto our road. From the left side of the car, off into the woods about two hundred yards and probably not more than a hundred and fifty feet off the ground was something in the air. My mother pulled the car over to the side of the road and stared at it. It was as if we were confused, or in some sort of haze. I remember us talking about what it could be ... a plane or a helicopter, maybe (I only remember that it was metallic-looking, not what the image actually WAS).
There is a National Guard Base in our town, and we thought it could be something from there, but I've been in the Army now for three years and haven't seen anything like it. And then, the strangest thing happened. We just said "Well, that's neat" and kept driving home. It was the most amazing thing we had seen in our lives, but for some reason we just didn't seem concerned about it. We all remember that it happened, but can't remember exactly what it was that we saw, or why it was why we were so collectively ambivalent about it. I've never told anyone about it, but I still think about it almost 20 years later.
