Silent
Scream
by Liz
When my mother was in her late teens/early 20s, she lived with a friend of hers in a very small apartment. This apartment was so small, she says, that it was only about two steps from the living room couch to the front door. Also they lived on the bottom floor on a street that never saw much action. One evening she and her friend/roommate were watching TV or conversing when my mom happened to look out the window next to the front door. What she saw horrified her.
There was a man's face that was pure white (as if painted) with a "scream" frozen on his face. She says "it was as if he was yelling, but there was no noise and his face didn't move." The silent scream? My mom hates being scared, so naturally she got angry and swung open the door... no one was there. The road was empty and no kid playing a prank could run that fast.
Stunned, she told her friend what just happened. As she finished her tale the phone rang... it was the hospital. Her mom had just had a stroke.
