Deathbed Experience
by Kendra

My mother died three weeks ago after a very long struggle with Alzheimer's. She had not been able to sit up on her own for some time. She was being fed whatever small things they could get into her as she had also forgotten how to swallow. She slept most of the day and night, and it was almost impossible to wake her. Then she had a stroke, and her left side was paralyzed. They could no longer get anything into her and the decision was made not to prolong her death by artificial means.

After 48 hours of no urine output, it was felt it was time to call in the priest to give her Last Rights. As the priest was giving her Last Rights, she sat up and swung her legs over the side of the bed! She had a look of clarity in her eyes, and the poor priest thought someone had made a terrible mistake. He said that this did not look like a dying woman to him. However, he continued with his job. She laid back down and slept.

We do not know what (or whom) she saw, but it is my belief that she knew it was her time to go and she saw the others that were waiting to help her cross to the other side. It truly confirmed by belief that life does indeed go on.
