Garfield's Grave Marker
by Lynn

I have lived in the same house for 27 years and raised my two sons there. I have about an acre and a half of land, and the back of the lot is wooded and natural. I had not been back in there for years. My oldest son came home to visit and was cutting a dead tree down. He came out from the woods and asked me when I put the gravestone there. I had no idea what he was talking about so we went back to see it.

There was a rock with concrete on it and the words "Garfield - Best cat ever" scratched into it. Years ago I had to have my favorite cat Garfield put to sleep at the vet. He was cremated, but I did not get his ashes and I certainly did not mix concrete and make a marker for him. Both my sons swear they did not make it and none of my friends could have done it. If I live to be 100, I will never figure out where the marker came from.
