Rhyming Phantom Voice
by Erica

I was 15 years old, living at my father's house in the Houston area. I was getting ready for bed one night at maybe 10 p.m. I had washed my hair, which was quite long at the time. I sat up and put a towel on my pillow because my hair was still wet, so I know I was awake. When I laid back down, I shut my eyes and an overwhelming sense that something was in the room with me grew. I wanted to run out of the room the moment I felt this presence, but my body became paralyzed. I had closed my eyes tightly because I did not want to see anything. I felt as though I were struggling to keep them closed as a light grew to the left side of the bed... over me. I could see the illumination through my eyelids. I refused to look.

I heard a male voice... angry... rhyming words... something about a lie... and the rhyme ended with, "surely you must try!" I tried to scream out, but I could not get a word out. It was like I was being strangled and held down by this force. I was thinking, "Jesus..." Trying to call out. I finally pushed his name out and the force immediately left. My adrenaline was running. I flew off the bed and ran down the hall to my father's room. He prayed over my room and the encounter never happened again. Whatever it was wanted me to see it. I believe it was trying to open my eyes. It was terrifying, and a story I don't share often because I wouldn't want to freak anyone out, or better, have them think I'm nuts. I never really thought much about spooky dust, but that was a very real experience -- for a skeptic like myself.
