I Sense Spirits
by Vicky W.

Since I was a child, I have had numerous experiences with the paranormal; in fact, most of my family think I'm in some sort of connection with the dead! For starters, when I was about seven I was being visited by a certain spirit who had decided to follow me around (I found out what happened by asking a professional who dealt with these sorts of things and explained to me that I had come into contact with a spirit, and it was now following me because I was easy to communicate with, though I was only a child at the time).

I was so scared at times I would stay awake all night reading or drawing and sleep during the day. I could literally feel him near me, staring at me. I tried to explain this to my family, but they dismissed it as imagination. One night I was staying at my Nan's house. I was lying in bed when I had the urge to look up above my head. As I did, I saw the shape of a person standing above the bed reaching for me. At this point, I ran to the light switch on the wall and turned the light on. There was nothing there. When I turned the light back off, there was still nothing there! My point being is that there was no shadow there to speak of, so I couldn't have mistaking anything for this entity. After that, I kept the light on and stared at the wall until morning came.

This experience opened my eyes to lots of other things. I've been visited by my dead relatives who want to pass on messages to their loved ones. I also remember being able to see other people's auras when I was a child, but as I got older I became unable to see them. What I do remember was that I could see outlines of people, sometimes red sometimes black. I have managed to overcome my fears by closing my eyes and imagining being attacked from behind by demons, but instead of penetrating my body, they just go through me like I'm invisible. It works - trust me.

I'm 21 now, married with a child of my own, and I can finally switch the light off in my bedroom at night, I can still walk into a house and if there is a spirit there I'll know about it. I can see them there in my mind and I feel them. Another experience which will prove I'm not a nutcase is when I was staying at my sister-in-law's pub. I went to bed the one time on my own and my little boy was sleeping at the bottom of the bed. When I closed my eyes, I had an image of a man standing in the doorway of the room. I looked over, but there was nothing there. I closed my eyes again and there he was, staring at me and my boy. I found out the next day that the pub used to be a brothel and the room I was staying in was once a room where a family was staying, and one night there was a fire and the wife and child were killed in the room. The husband survived and eventually killed himself in the same room out of guilt and self pity that he couldn't have saved his family. (I only found out this information after I told my sister-in-law that I had seen this spirit.) When my sister-in-law told me that there was a ghost in the upstairs of the pub, I instantly turned round and told her that it was a man with a weird looking hat and Victorian clothes, and she looked at me all pale and said, "How do you know it's a man?" I said, because I saw him last night in my bedroom.
