Thunderbird and
the Eclipse
by Patrona
Last night I was standing outside in my backyard observing the lunar eclipse. I was also watching the strange light pattern in the sky. I heard geese honking, so I looked up to see 10 geese flying in a V formation overhead... lovely. I kept looking up and, all of a sudden, what appeared to be a HUGE bird glided overhead, slowly, silently in a straight direction until I couldn't see it anymore. I yelled for my daughter to come out so she could see it too, but she didn't hear me. I didn't want to take my eyes off of it. My first impression was of calm. I didn't feel excited as much as I felt blessed to see such a sight. There was something peaceful about this flight.
It looked like a huge bird with a wingspan about 10-15 feet, and it seemed to be either white or light gray, a bit luminescent - not in much contrast to the night sky. I didn't see any head or feet from the angle I was looking, and it was quite high overhead. I started looking up possible links on the Internet to see if anyone else has ever seen such a bird. It reminded me of some giant mythical bird. What was it?
