Chocolate-Loving
Angel
by Jeannette G.
I believe I was around 10 years old. My elementary school began one of those charities when they give you chocolate bars to sell for a buck ($1.00) and you can earn a prize. I had no luck selling any chocolate bars on my first day, and I remember walking home extremely sad and hurt that everyone turned me down. As I was walking home, it was about 3 or 3:30 p.m. I remember an African American man, out of nowhere, asked if he could buy a chocolate bar from me, which of course he did. He gave me a dollar, old and wrinkled, and as I put the money in my pocket, he thanked me and walked away.
When I turned around to thank him, he was gone. He disappeared. Today I am 25 years old and the more I think about that day, the clearer it gets. The streets were dead that day, although there were cars at the lights about 500 ft. away from me in both directions waiting at the stop lights. It was windy... but the wind wasn't blowing. And there was nowhere he could have gone seeing we were on the side of Driffill school (Oxnard, Ca.) where there is a huge fence that covers that whole block. To this day, I'm not sure what or who it was but I do believe it was an Angel of God helping me out.
