Phantom Cat
by Jill L.

I was grieving for my old diabetic cat, Mr. White, who had just died from kidney failure. Time passed and I still missed him, but he wasn't on my mind so much. I went out to wash my car late in the afternoon and my mother was helping me. I felt something brush by my leg and looked down. To my astonishment, Mr. White was there, appearing just for a few seconds. As I reached down to pet him, he was gone. He had faded into the air. I said nothing to my mother, for fear she would think me mad. But several weeks later I did mention it to her. She smiled and said, I saw Mr. White that afternoon too, but was afraid to say anything to you because I didn't think you would believe me. I saw him for a few seconds and then he faded away. We both believe that Mr. White was paying us a visit from the spirit world. Today, we both believe in ghosts.
