Second Sight

I am named after my dead grandmother. My grandmother died when my mother was 17 years old. She supposedly was a very spiritual person. On the night before she died, she came down to the basement where my mom was sleeping and woke my mom up. "Nicole, there's someone in my room!" she said. She was totally freaked out. My mom told her that she had heard nothing, but my grandmother was positive that there was someone in her room and even took a knife with her to bed after that.

Well, the next day, my grandmother died in a car accident. But that's not all. It seems this whole second sight thing has been passed on to me or something.

It started when I was 10 years old. We had just moved into our house. It was about 12 or maybe 1 in the morning when I was awoken by a flickering light. At that time I was still afraid of the dark and had one of those nightlights that turn on when you turn off the light and the nightlight was flickering. Not thinking anything of it, I got out of bed and pushed the nightlight into the wall. The nightlight fixed itself and I turned around to get back in bed.

But when I turned around, there was someone at the end of my bed. It was a boy about my age and he was a little opalescent and almost black and white. His skin was white-gray and he had on black and white clothes (but not a suit). He just stood there looking at me with an odd grin on his face. I froze. Then I leaped into my bed and pulled the covers over my head and didn't look again until morning, when naturally, he was gone.

I never saw a ghost or whatever it was again, but strange things still happen to me. I'm always misplacing things and I'll look everywhere for something, and then after I give up I'll find it in a spot I know I just searched! It's frustrating because my parents don't believe me and think I'm just irresponsible and absentminded, but I swear everything I've said is true! And there are other things such as floating lights with no source, and unearthly screams echoing right outside my door! Our house isn't old, and there were no deaths in it that I know of. How is this possible?
