The
Shadow Whispers
by Morgan N.
Last weekend, I was sketching and sculpting the figure of a Grim Reaper for my friend's (who is obsessed with them) birthday. I decided I would continue working on it the next day, so I went to the kitchen to wash my brushes. In my house, to get from the garage to the kitchen you have to walk through a huge windowed hallway, with tall ceilings and a a mirror towards the end that reflects what is going on in the living room.
I was walking from the garage to the kitchen (I hate walking through there, so I was walking rather quickly) and I saw a black figure walking through the living room, then disappearing behind the couch. For a moment, I thought it was my own reflection, but I hadn't reached the mirror yet. I shook it off and washed my brushes, and walked to the bathroom. When I turned around, I saw it again looking at me from the window. I convinced myself it was a reflection of some kind and went to bed.
I have seen this "thing" before, walking across the living room in various patterns. The only time it has made its presence truly aware was when I was walking through that same hallway, it was daylight, and I could see a black figure was sitting in the chair at the end of the hallway, out of the corner of my eye. When I looked at it directly, it disappeared.
A couple of nights ago, I woke up to someone whispering in my ear. I hear knocking on the window when I am in bed. I feel I am being watched when I do the dishes in the kitchen, and there are strange markings in the steam of the shower window. The door slams by itself sometimes, and my brother says he can hear people whispering, and he says the "Grim Reaper" taps him on the back of the neck at night. Sometimes when I lay in bed, I feel a choking sensation around my neck. After I say, "Please stop, I can't breath," it usually goes away.
I don't know if this thing is evil or not, we built this house new. I don't know if it is evil at all. It might just be a deceased loved one checking up on me, but it freaks me out.
