Ghost on the Tracks
by Yvette

The date that this occurred sounds cliché, but it's true, and I believed my husband 100% when he told me about it. He was very confused by the incident for a few days after it happened. It's up to you to decide.

On Halloween night of this year (2007), my husband, who is a railroad conductor for a very famous freight line, was heading south toward Laredo, Texas with his engineer. This occurred in a small town between San Antonio and Laredo. It was a clear, warm evening, as it usually is here in South Texas, and the two were riding in the engine.

My husband said that up ahead he saw a man lying on the railroad tracks with his head facing the train and his hands under his cheek. My husband yelled at the engineer to stop the train - they had both seen him and the engineer was already pulling the brake. The man had a terrified look on his bearded face and raised both hands in the air as he struggled to get out of the way. Suddenly, BAM! they hit him and they could hear the impact and the sounds as the body went under the wheels. Yes, my husband says you can hear anything that goes under the train.

My husband was just like, "Oh great, I'm gonna have to see this dead guy's body and guts everywhere." Finally, the train stopped about half a mile up the tracks or so and my husband called a buddy of his and asked him what they needed to do now. He had to call the manager from the nearest depot, Texas state troopers, and a few other officials.

When my husband got out of the engine he found... nothing! No blood on the front of the train, under the wheels, no evidence of them hitting anything. The engineer and he walked back to the point of impact and there was nothing at all on the tracks. By this time the manager and the troopers got there and they were like, "Where's the body?" My husband and the engineer were freaking out and embarrassed, too, because they know they hit something, but there was nothing out there. So they called some K-9 people and they didn't pick up a scent of anything or anyone.

One of the town cops said that a few days ago some kids were throwing mannequins off a nearby bridge; there were pieces of those, but my husband told him it was impossible. This bearded person looked scared and tried to get off the tracks. Had he just been injured slightly and not killed, the dogs would have picked up something, and he probably couldn't have gone far being injured like that.

Who knows who or what this was? My husband has traveled down that way for the last three years and has never experienced anything or heard anything.
