A Friend Returns
by Awindstorm

I have always had paranormal experiences, but the most recent one I have had in quite some time really floored me. About two years ago, I was sitting at my computer one evening and I had the sense that someone walked into the room and was creeping up behind me. I turned around and no one was there, but I still felt the presence. It was a strangely familiar presence. I know this person from somewhere, I thought, but I was not afraid of the person. I was afraid because I could not see what I know was there. That alone made me uncomfortable, so I said out loud to the spirit, "I know you are there. Would you please leave?" It slowly left and then it was gone, but I felt regretful, as if I was hurting my best friend. I remember about a week before this incident, there was a strange problem with my television. The channels were changing at random, and when I went to turn it off manually, it wouldn't go off! The TV went off on its own, and when I tried to turn it back on, it wouldn't come on. It came on again by itself and I tried to turn the channels manually and it wouldn't budge. I think the spirit was trying to communicate with me then. I told my partner that the television is malfunctioning and he turned on the television with no problem! I have an ex-boyfriend who I called occasionally to say happy holidays or just plain hello because we had just really been friends. I hadn't heard from him on my birthday or any past two holidays, and I thought it was strange so I decided that I would just call him to see if he was okay. I was at work when I called. His father answered the phone and I asked if I could speak to my friend, David. He hesitated and asked who I was and I told him. Then he told me that David died in September of an asthma attack. I had this presence come to me in January the following year! I dropped the phone in shock and ran to the ladies room to try to console myself. My coworker soon came in afterward to console me. I was virtually inconsolable at that point. I had always been there for David other times when he was in the hospital. I was always calling him at the right time of need. Now it was too late. I had lost a dear friend and missed his funeral! I had also told him to leave that night while on the computer! His family knew how close we were and didn't want to hurt me by telling me. They wanted to contact me, but they didn't have my phone number. I had no idea David was really that sick! I just wish I could have been there for him in his time of need. All we had to do was think of each other and one way or the other, we would contact each other. I suppose in this incident, David contacted me.
