Strange Blobbish Creature

Not until now did it occur to me that I had remembered strange things happening to my brother and me. I remember having nightmares almost every night that scared me half to death. My brother and I swear to this day that we used to see strange blobbish figure walking by the road and then come toward our house, through our window and stand there before us. We screamed every time we saw them, because they were terrifying and because it was the only way to make them go away. 

I had forgotten the reality of it all, probably because I blocked it out. I'm not sure. I can only think that maybe some earlier occupants had drowned in that river and are haunting that house. I also remember these things having red eyes, like these things were demons. Could these things be shadow people?
