Dimes from Heaven
by Marc K.

In February, 1992 I was walking down a busy street in Minneapolis when I looked down and saw a very shiny dime laying in the sidewalk. I reached down, picked it up and shoved the dime into my pocket and forgot about it. The next morning, I was walking down a sidewalk and glanced down at another dime. Funny coincidence, I thought, while trying to remember the last time I’d found a dime, let alone two in a row. On an impulse, I closed my eyes, and tried to imagine the location of another dime. I walked to the end of the block, looked down at the muddy water in the curb, saw nothing, and laughed at myself for being so goofy. Then I bent over, looked a little harder, pushed my hand into the muck to a raised bump. I pulled out a muddy dime.

Now, 10 years later, I have a pile of 254 dimes, all found when I’m debating with myself about something confusing and I need a little guidance from my "Dimes From Heaven."
