The
Malevolent Spirit
by Chris
I live with my parents in Washington in the northeast of England (George Washington's grandfather owned the area before emigrating to America). In the summer of 2003, my parents rented a villa in the Mediterranean island of Cyprus. They flew out on the first saturday in August and I had booked a flight to head out and meet them for the second week.
As soon as I got to the villa, I felt uneasy. I was to be sleeping on the sofa bed in the living area, and for some reason I always felt cold when I was in bed there. Please bear in mind I live in the north of England where the average summer temperature is 25-27 Celsius, and in Cyprus it's that hot at night, so I should not have been feeling cold.
I clearly remember one night I went to bed at around 1 a.m. and instantly felt cold. I had just come to assume there was a draught in the area and pulled an extra sheet over me and drifted off to sleep.
Then I was wide awake. I don't know what time it was, but it must have been around 3 as my uncle and aunt had now gone to bed as well (they were in the other bedroom next to my parents). I was wide-eyed and my gaze was fixed on the corner of the living area, which opened up into the kitchen. I was completely paralyzed and my breathing was very laboured and erratic. I tried to calm myself down, but I couldn't, nor could I move.
I was staring directly at the outline of a human shape. It was about 5'11", dressed in a long overcoat and Stetson-type hat. I don't know how, but I could tell it was a man. I could feel a really strong malevolence and hatred generated from him and it terrified me. I could tell he was staring straight and I could feel his eyes burning into me, although I could not see them. I have never felt such hatred, anger and sheer malevolence in my whole life. At the same time, I could hear what sounded like a thousand voices all swooshing around me and whispering different things to me. I was still unable to breathe properly and completely unable to move.
I think I eventually passed out as the next thing I remember was my mum waking me up. I was till in the same position I had been in when the incident had happened, and I was crying. I also had a really sore throat and bruises on my neck and shoulders. My mum and dad would never have believed me so I told them I had had a bad dream and must have banged off something.
I know that this was not a dream as my dreams are very vague and I never remember them in any detail. I was so scared that I started sleeping outside by the pool and it was warm enough to sleep with only one sheet over me.
I had a great time on that holiday, but I felt a great relief wash over me when we left that villa for the final time.
