Arrival Replay

I was lying in bed one night waiting for my husband to get home (it was bowling night and he usually got home pretty late and usually drunk!). Anyway, I was never able to sleep until I knew he had gotten home safely, so I know I was awake at the time. I heard his car pull up, heard the crunch of gravel in the drive, heard the car door slam, heard him fumbling with his key in the front door. He came in, stumbled to the bathroom, came back to the kitchen, got a drink of water (our bedroom was off the kitchen) and I distinctly heard his footsteps approaching the bedroom door.

I lay there waiting several minutes for the door to open, but it didn't. Worried that something had happened to him, I got up and went out into the kitchen, but there was no one there! I looked all through the house, but there was no sign of him, and no car in the driveway.

Completely puzzled, I went back to bed, and a few minutes later, I heard the exact same sounds all over again, the same routine with the car, the bathroom,etc. only this time the bedroom door DID open, and he was really there! I have never figured out how I heard him arrive before he actually did so it must have been some sort of time warp.
