Ghost Knight

This odd occurrence took place in early January, 2007. I was at my grandparents' house during the Christmas holidays. They live in Ryde on the isle of Wight, in a rather grand house that they got cheap, because of its derelict state. Now it has been restored to pristine condition, with the decor resembling a late 18th century castle.
The first night I stayed there, there were no disturbances, but on the second night I awoke to the sounds of something metallic scraping along the stone floor. Cautiously, I opened my door and peered over the banister. There in the foyer was a medieval knight dragging itself around, in no particular direction. I first thought it was a joke, but both my grandparents were asleep. I got spooked and returned to my room, where I lay awake until the sound eventually ceased.
Upon awaking the next morning, I told my grandfather what I experienced. He simply cast it off as a dream, but it was evident by the look on his face that he was hiding something. I chose not to tell my parents, but I am determined to find out what is going on when I next go.
