A
Friendly Spirit
by Minnesota Homeowner
I will explain my experience; however, I must preface it by saying I do not believe in ghosts or things that go bump in the night. I am merely trying to figure out the unexplainable events that have taken place over time in my home.
Shortly after moving into my home in 1996, the doorbell would ring at odd hours of the night. Of course, there was no one there. I had the wiring changed and updated throughout the house and it still continues at times. Secondly, on occasion, footsteps can be heard from the upper level when everyone in the house is in bed. I merely thought it was creaks of an old house. Once, I had a house guest that this entity did not approve of and it made its opinion known by moving my car keys to the upstairs stairs, not once but twice! Because I did nothing to change the situation, this entity kept turning the bathroom light on and off and began slamming the bathroom door which is across from my room. Finally, I remedied the situation by having my house guest leave and the paranormal activity (for lack of a better term) ceased.
Now, I have a house guest from another country who enjoys taking pictures of his surroundings. One picture has a glow or halo or white effect in the middle and subsequent pictures do not. When he asked me what it was, I did not know. This house guest related to me that he has heard "footsteps" in his room and that one day his clock alarm was turned off making him late for class. However, when he arrived at class the delayed time did not seem to matter as his class had been canceled. Just a coincidence maybe. But this house guest also related that for some reason he "feels strange" in my home office, and this is the same room I have always felt a little uncomfortable in. This room is all newly painted, wallpapered and has new office equipment, but something happened in this room between 1940 and 1970.
I have been told by the entity that a child died of "crib death" in this room. But that it wasn't the entities child but that of another owner. I do not have proof of this, merely a feeling as others have about this particular room. This entity is not a poltergeist but a trickster. It enjoys calling to my house guests who are upstairs and when they ask me what I wanted I had not called them. Also, the entity enjoys ringing the doorbell at odd hours of the night. Over time, five years, the entity and I have become friends.
Last summer, a friend took me to a cemetery so he could get a rubbing of an old stone. I remembered that this was the same cemetery my sister was buried in but I had never been there as she died at birth when I was very young. I had no idea where, in a sea of graves, she was buried. All of a sudden I said to my friend, my sister is buried three graves down from the tree. I was correct. Although my friend knew I had never been there before he was astonished by my accuracy. Mostly, the entity stays within the confines of the house. I feel I know this person or entity so, as a writer, I wrote a story about her and placed it in a sealed envelope. Two years later, a neighbor who has lived here since 1940 related the history of this woman (the entity) exactly as I had written it including her name and that of her husband. I believe this spirit is somehow attached to this house. I believe the entity or spirit lives in the house as it was in the 40s or her time frame yet somehow crosses over into my time and gets confused. Maybe the entity is trying to protect the house. Maybe it is trying to protect the people who live in it now. All I know for sure is that the entity is a elderly woman who likes to play tricks on the inhabitants of the house and tries to keep them safe.
