Cat
Talker
by Sandra M.
I did communicate with a cat - or should I say she communicated with me. This little kitten was born as part of a litter in a field somewhere in a small town where I lived. I lived on a ranch and one day when I came home I found a very small black kitten at my back door. She had separated herself from her brothers and sisters and would just come over to get some attention from me. I would keep on giving her back to the people who found her, but always found this little black fur ball at my back door or front of my house leaning by a tree waiting for me to come home, like a kid waiting for her mom to come home.
I started taking her in to my house and would rock her in my hand until she went to sleep. I swear I could see a smile on her face as she fell asleep in my hands. This went on for a while until she got a few weeks older. The people next door had named her Angel. So I would call her Angel. She never answered to it. One day I was holding her, I said in my head, not by my mouth, What should I name you? The answer that came back strong in my head from her was, "My name is Jasmine, thank you", and she jumped out of my hand and looked back at me with her tail in the air. I thought I was going crazy. But I named her Jasmine right on the spot. That spooked me for a long time. People did not believe me. We communicated like that and the bond was so strong between us. I would tell her not to bring her presents (dead birds, spiders) into the house for me and she understood. She was my child until someone took her away from me.
