Red Dress Ghost
by Trynna
I lived in a two-story house in the core area of Winnipeg. I lived there with my husband and son and was expecting a daughter. Our bedroom was at the top of a flight stairs and one night my husband and I heard what sounded like someone coming up the stairs. Because we lived in a "not so nice" part of the city, we thought that someone had broken in. My husband got up and went out to confront whoever was there, but there was no one. I got up and we looked through the house together and found no one. Both the front and back doors were still deadbolted and all the windows were still locked. We thought we were just crazy and went back to bed.
The next day, we got up around 7 a.m., the incident forgotten. We were going to go shopping and were in the living room when we saw a woman walk through our living room and go up the stairs. I must stress that this "woman" was seen by both my husband and myself and she was NOT in any way ghostlike or transparent. The only thing "paranormal" about it was that she made no sound when she walked and our house had squeaky floors in that area.
My husband and I looked at each other and then called out to this woman in anger, "Who the hell are you and what are you doing in our house?" We raced up the stairs and found no one. We questioned each other as to whether we really saw this woman or not and we found that we had the same description of her: red dress with a red belt around the middle, long black hair tied back and glasses that hung around her neck.
Now I saw that she was older, but my husband said that she looked to be about 25. I thought she looked to be about 40. We started to talk about this and then he mentioned that maybe she was the same woman who come up the stairs the previous night. I laughed and said maybe.
No other occurrences happened in the time that we lived there. We were not on drugs, we were not drunk and there were no gas leaks of any kind in the area. We asked the landlord about it and he said that he did not know of anything happening in the house like this before and he did not recognize the description of the woman. I must say that I did not feel fear when this woman passed us. Just anger because I thought a real person walked in to my house and walked passed us. We lived there for roughly six months more.
