Red-Eyed Passenger
by Joy
About two years ago, I was on the Metro train headed home from work. The train stopped at Hyattsville station and someone got on the train that instantly caught my eye. The first thing was when he got on the train he stood up at the door adjacent from me. Now this was weird because there were only two other people on the train car, so there were seats everywhere. Why would he come stand right in front of me?
He was about six feet tall, even caramel complexion. He looked like he could have been in his mid-20s. But the scariest thing was the disfiguring scars all over his face. It looked like someone had sliced his face up with a knife or razor or something. I was trying with everything in me not to look at him, but I had a feeling he was watching me, and every time I took a quick glance, there he was staring at me.
Then it happened so fast I barely caught it, but it was slow enough that I did catch it. The man blinked his eyes really hard and when they opened he had these red glowing eyes. Then he blinked again and his eyes were back to normal. Then it was like he knew I was scared or he knew I saw him or something because he just smiled at me. With this devilish wide grin.
We were approaching the next station at that point and he got off at the very next stop. I was sooooooooooo freaked out because when he got off the train he didn't walk anywhere or do anything. He turned back in the direction of the train door still smiling, letting the train doors close with us on two different sides of it. As the train is pulling off, he was still standing in the same spot grinning. It was the craziest thing I've ever seen in my life. I sound crazy just repeating it, but it's true.
