Saved by a Ghost Dog
by Aisis

My friend Jessica and I were playing in the beach in South Carolina when we found a pile of strangely shaped boulders beside a cliff. It was pretty windy and had a little bit of rain, but Jessica and I were curious enough to ignore them, so we swam all the way toward the boulders until I heard screaming.

My friend Jessica was about to drown. She must have lost her balance since the water is pretty shallow over here. I was going to save her, but I slipped too on a boulder and scraped my foot. So we were screaming for help now. We were so frantic that we forgot the basics of swimming.

After maybe three minutes I saw something come toward Jessica and me. It was a dog, a large Great Dane with steele gray color. Its tongue was lolling out in an friendly way, and it seem to be panting. I called out to him and it came right toward me and let me grab its neck. Then Jessica called out to him and he swam toward her with me holding its neck; Jessica grabbed hold of its neck. I noticed the Great Dane had an amazing strength. It carried both of us to shore in one moment.

After we reached the sandy shore, the dog licked both of us and Jessica and I hugged him for our gratitude. He seem to smile and then went right back into the water!

That night Jessica and I told our parents about the strange Great Dane and they said, "That's Rescue, a dog that died a year ago. It was on a rescue mission and it died right near the cluster of boulders. We guessed it doesn't want the same tragedy happening to you."
