Death Light
by Kaeli Davis
I live in Prichard, West Virginia, and I have a weird story to tell. The year was 2002. My family and I lived up a dead end road (we still do). There are hills all around us. One night my aunt went down to the barn to feed the horses. While she was walking back up to the house, she turned around, for some odd reason, and she saw a light on top of a hill that was behind the barn. When she looked up, she saw a bright white light. The light would move back and forth and up and down. My aunt stood out there for about an hour and watched it. All of a sudden, it vanished. It didn't fly away, it just disappeared.
About a week later, my cousin passed away.
That wasn't the first time someone had seen the light. My great grandmother saw the light, only closer. See, we live in a valley and our mailbox is on top of the valley. One night, she saw the light right by the mailbox. It hovered there for about a few moments and then shot straight up.
A few years after that, my grandfather and his cousin Ed were outside drinking and stuff when they saw the light. It kind of creeped them out and they left. About a week after they saw the light, Ed passed away.
The people at the end of the road moved away because of the light. Now, I haven't seen the light for myself, but I have quite a few people to back me up. To tell you the truth, I think the light is something alienlike. I'm not sure. Now that I'm old enough (16) I have a horse of my own. Every time I go down to feed the horses, I don't care if i'm walking to the barn or from it, I try never to look up at that hill!
