Radio Interference

I definitely consider myself to be a SLIder. I figure my SLI's to number 30-50 per year. What I really want to write about is my recent experience with a two-way radio. My brother could not go to work as a cab driver one day. As a favor, I filled in for him. I got into the cab as I was being picked up by the driver from the previous shift. He notified dispatch (via radio) that I was in the cab, and ready to assume the next shift. Shortly afterward, as I was en route to pick up my first dispatched call, the radio would not transmit for me. I was able to hear dispatch frantically trying to receive from me, but I was simply unable to transmit. It did not take long before I was sent home. I explained to my brother that I was very nervous, and felt entirely out of my element within the cab. I explained that my emotional state caused the radio to not work (which did work perfectly when a different person recovered the vehicle from me).
