Thunderbird Sighting
by Sonoran P.

I live in Mexico, in the mining town of Cananea, around 80 km from the US border with Arizona. A friend and I were going to the US one afternoon. He was driving and I was in the passenger seat, watching the roadside. Then he pointed at the sky, to a bird. "Its just a bird," I said. "It looks large!" he stated, as we put more attention into the flying creature. Then the bird got nearer, and I observed what its real size was. It was pretty large, as it passed over the car. Its shadow completely covered the car for a moment, and as it flew past us, it soared down to the ground in near the railroad. It was like a combination of a stork and a crow, being black in color and having a long head. Its beak was about four or five feet long, thin and slender. Its wings looked like those of a vulture, black, shiny and wide open. It never flapped them; it just glided by. Its tail was like that of crow, fan shaped. It is the largest living flying thing that I had ever seen, and I would like to know what it was. I've read about those thunderbirds, and wondered if it was one of those things. I've always been rather a skeptic, trying to find a reasonable explanation to everything. Maybe it was just a large raven or something that flew over us, and the sunset made the rest. I wonder about all the secrets in this world, about everything involving it.
